Casino apps vs the mobile browser
What you install, what you don’t, and why it matters.
by the Mobile Casino AU Testing Team, tested
Progressive web apps
An “install” button in Chrome or Safari usually adds a web-app icon to your home screen. It uses the same site, same cookies and same cashier. Nothing is reviewed by an app store.
APK files
On Android, a casino may offer a downloadable APK. It bypasses Play Store review and can request broad permissions. We don’t link to them.
Blocked sites and mirrors
When the ACMA blocks a domain, offshore brands often move to “mirror” addresses — Golden Crown loaded at goldencrowncasino77.com when we tested. A mirror is not a sign of a licence.
